Saskatoon Open Door Society
Description
For over four decades, our journey began with a commitment to supporting Vietnamese refugees as they arrived in Saskatoon. Today, our dedication remains steadfast, extending to aiding over 600 Syrian newcomers in the past three years alone, along with countless others from 115 diverse nations.
In under ten years, our team has flourished from 70 to 211 dynamic individuals, mirroring the growth of our services tailored to the needs of newcomers to Canada. Our comprehensive programming encompasses:
1. Settlement and Employment Services
2. Language Training and Translation Services
3. Family, Youth, and Childcare Services
4. Community Programs and Events
5. Local Engagement and Volunteering Opportunities
We take immense pride in facilitating the integration of newcomers into Saskatoon, fostering connections and nurturing reciprocal relationships within our vibrant community, inclusive of Indigenous groups.
As active participants in Reconciliation Saskatoon, we champion diversity and inclusivity, striving to create an environment where newcomers feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to fully engage in our economic, social, intellectual, and cultural spheres.
